Workshop organised by the EMBRACE, FP6 NoE, and CASPUR with the support of the Italian Society of Bioinformatics. This workshop will focus on "Building Next Generation Sequencing platforms and pipeline solutions", and will take place in Rome on November 18-20, 2009.

The workshop is aimed at bioinformaticians interested in discussing issues related to the management of platforms and analysis of next-generation sequencing data. The workshop will include hands-on sessions and lectures by experts from relevant fields. Topics covered will include practical sessions on: storage facilities for sequencing raw data, installation and fine tuning of tools for genome mapping of sequence reads (single and paired-ends), sequence reads assembly and contig generation, gene calling of mapped reads for digital analysis of gene expression and identification of structural genome variants by using long paired-end sequencing.
