Workshop organised by the EMBRACE (EU FP6 NoE), in connection with the EMBnet AGM 2010.

The event is sponsored by the Apulia Regional Council under a EU initiative financed by EU funds - POR Puglia 2000/2006 (http://www.viaggiareinpuglia.it/aptbari) and EMBRACE (http://www.embracegrid.info/).
This workshop is a continuation of the previous workshop in Rome (see link below). It is aimed at bioinformaticians interested in discussing issues related to the management of platforms and analysis of next-generation sequencing data.
The workshop will include lectures by experts from relevant fields and corresponding practical sessions. Topics covered will include storage facilities for sequencing raw data, tools for genome mapping of sequence reads, sequence reads assembly, contig and scaffold generation, gene calling of mapped reads for digital analysis of gene expression, identification of structural genome variants by using long paired-end sequencing and tools for genome annotation.
The workshop will start June 16th at 10:00 A.M. with a list of presentations on the topics such as de novo sequencing: analysis strategies, reference supported sequence assembly; re-sequencing: mapping and detection of variability; RNA-seq and digital gene-expression profiling, ChIP -seq, epigenetics, metagenomics, small RNA sequencing and genome annotation.

The second day (June 17th) will be dedicated to an extensive hack-a-thon session with real data analysis of some of the above mentioned topic.
The hack-a-thon will use the computer facility of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN, http://www.ba.infn.it/) in Bari.

EMBnet´s AGM will take place on June 18th

There is no registration fee. The costs for the EMBnet members are covered by the Apulia Regional Council and EMBnet. Other participants have to cover only their travel and accommodation, the rest will be sponsored by EMBRACE and Apulia Regional Council.

Next Generation Sequencing

Workshop organised by the EMBRACE, FP6 NoE, and CASPUR with the support of the Italian Society of Bioinformatics. This workshop will focus on "Building Next Generation Sequencing platforms and pipeline solutions", and will take place in Rome on November 18-20, 2009.

The workshop is aimed at bioinformaticians interested in discussing issues related to the management of platforms and analysis of next-generation sequencing data. The workshop will include hands-on sessions and lectures by experts from relevant fields. Topics covered will include practical sessions on: storage facilities for sequencing raw data, installation and fine tuning of tools for genome mapping of sequence reads (single and paired-ends), sequence reads assembly and contig generation, gene calling of mapped reads for digital analysis of gene expression and identification of structural genome variants by using long paired-end sequencing.

We are pleased to invite you to the International EMBnet-RIBio Conference 2009, jointly organized by the European Molecular Biology network (EMBnet) and the Red Iberoamericana de Bioinformática (RIBio) at the Paradisus Riviera Cancun Resort, located at the Mayan Riviera, Quintana Roo, Mexico, from the 26th to the 29th of October, 2009.
This will be the first time the EMBnet's Annual General Meeting will take place outside of Europe, bringing together bioinformatitians from all over the world, together with the Iberoamerican Annual General Meeting. We are also planning to establish the Iberoamerican Bioinformatics Society.
The conference is open to submissions. The main topics will be: High Throughput Technologies, the Interface of Bioinformatics and Systems Biology and Open Software for Bioinformatics, but we are accepting submissions in all areas of bioinformatics (such as genomics, proteomics, trancriptomics, metagenomics, data and text-mining, ontologies, education and e-learning tools available in Bioinformatics, among others) --See the Abstract guidelines--.
 Additionally, selected papers will be reviewed and published on the "EMBnet.news 15.4" (EMBnet.news is a quarterly publication devoted to research, projects, events, news and announcements related with the bioinformatics, biomedical and in general to the "bio-" and "omics-" communities & industry all-over the world).
